  • Another fine day of flying in Alaska

Sunday was a good day fly. The fall colors were out in all their glory.
The picture of the T-craft with the landlocked icebergs, doesn't show
the scale. The bergs are over 100ft tall.

        Dan:
The pictures were taken at Strandline Lake or what was left it. The lake is over by Triumvirate Glacier.

            Dan:
Triumvirate Glacier is in the Alaska Range across the inlet. It feeds Beluga Lake. And yes, the PA-14 belongs to Don Devoe who has been flying in Alaska for years. He took me under his wing and helped me experience Alaska bush flying at its best. Without his encouragement and guidence I would not have even attempted to land on sandbars, mountain tops, beaches, etc.

Wow, most of the Glaciers I have flown over in the Alaska range had way too much morraine for me to try and land, maybe next summer we can go for a trip together...Tim

                    Tim:
I would be pleased to go flying with any of our tribe.
Went flying with a group of friends last Sunday. It was
one of the last flyout hotdog burning trips of this season, before it gets
too cold. We went to Chakachamna Lake and landed on the beach
near the foot of barrier Glacier. From there we flew up the Nagishlamina
River to the head waters of the Skwentna River down the valley and back to
                    Anchorage. Here are some pics

Not a Taylorcraft but my first flight out of Ketcikan on a mail run to Prince of Wales Island. Pilot was Jerry Baker. I was on a cruise and this sounded more enjoyable than normal tourist flight.
