    Re: placards

I have a fellow here in Cedar Rapids that will be doing mine. He hasn't started yet but makes signs/placards from various colors and materials. I asked if he could duplicate the various Taylorcraft logos and he was sure he could. I'll keep the Forum updated as this progresses.

      Carl,

I will be restoring my 1940 BL-65 in the future. I will be VERY interested in finding how your placards turn out. I am willing to purchase a set now, if that would help you.

        Re: placards

Bob: How about letting me try the guy out first. I anticipate I'll see him this week or next to get his reaction to what I want after showing him logos, etc. If you are still in the restoration stage you have some time. I just finished about 18 months on restoring my '40, BC-65. BTW, since you are close by I found a guy about 60 miles from Cedar Rapids that did my headliner, a really neat job and very reasonable. I ordered an AirTex headliner that he had to do some modifications to and it turned out great. He works very reasonably too.

I could use a set of placards, too. Perhaps we could get together and order in quantity?

I also need all the instrument panel placards. Once you find out the details please let me know.

                  Re: placards

You can also get placards from your local trophy shop. Most of them can print a pdf file to a laser etcher......

I couldn't find any pics of my T panel but I do have one from the panel I did on the Mooney.

I do the same thing, Richard. Here's one I did for a 108-3 Stinson.

Where do you think I got the idea from??!!

The nice thing is they make stickers too now. Worked very well in certain areas where a hard placards were too thick.

                        Re: placards

There is a guy already making all the placards. His name is Noel Allard. He even has etched placards. I will have to dig out his info.

                          Re: placards

I emailed back and forth with him a few months ago:

                          Noel Allard
                          Decals-Data Plates

                          [email protected]

He said he does have some Taylorcraft placards in inventory, but not the original stamped brass placards I wanted.

Please go look at my thread "Seeking original stamped brass cockpit placards" under Buy/Sell on the Taylorcraft Foundation sub-forum. I found original Vne and "when removing control" placards, but I'm still wanting a fuel transfer placard. I'll pay dearly for one.

For Oshkosh last year, I made placards with laser printer clear label film and thin brass sheet from the hobby shop. (Photo below of last year's homemade vs. this year's original Vne placard.) The brass sheet was thin enough to just cut the wings outline with scissors, after sticking on the label film. Artwork for printing out the labels is on that other thread if you want to try it.

See my post regarding Joel's quest for "original stamped brass..." I don't have prices from my friend except the compass placard.
