  • The wiring down the lenght of the wing?

There is wiring in place for a wing lamp (I guess), but I'm not installing one and there hasn't been one since 1947. Any reason to leave it in place ? - MIkeH

If it is in good shape leave it you or next owner may want to put in wingtip ligths. replace it if bad, the cost and work is low with the wing open.
We live in a different airtrafic enviroment today, think saftey.
Use friction tape and sceelack the tape to hold it in place.
TY raps can come loose with time and if they can move or rotate, they will eat a rib or two.
The Nylon it stronger then the aluminium
It happend to a C 185 in our area some years ago.
It is a costly to repair or replace wing ribs.

Actually the wax impregnated nomex string is the best to use, no shellac required and it lasts forever. You need to tie it with a clove hitch with 2 half hitches over the top. Tim
