I think you got it Mike, also you might try pushing the wire forward from the top of the rib to unlock the rear barb and gently push up to release

The last wing I helped do, we just cut out the martin wire and replaced with marson/oly rivets. There is a 337 listed in the tech section for this. Less headaches. Tim

Do I understand correctly I could also use PK screws or stitching to hold the fabric to the rib? I may be looking at this wrong, but when it comes time to recover, if we had used rivets, wouldn't that be a real pain? - MIke

Well I prefer rib stitchin, since there is no way to damage a rib by removing it, but Yes you can use other methods if you get them approve. Tim

There is an STC for PK screws.

Use a thin-bladed knife. Slide the blade under the wire. Push gently against the wire to compress it and then twist the knife. The wire pops right out of the hole.

Yes there is a special Taylorcraft tool, very thin kind of like a small hook knife with a notch in it, pull back gently and they come right out. Do NOT tear them out , rivets are a pain next time around.
