  • AK Tribe Pancakes?

    Hey AK Tribers,

Anyone planning to go the the Pancake Breakfast in Palmer on Saturday, June 7? If so, let's meet up.

If you're looking for a fun cross-country, I went up to Manley Hot Springs over the weekend. It's a long trip from South Central, but the people were nice, the hot springs are excellent (only $5 to get in), they have a good $10 hamburger in the Manley Roadhouse (built in 1905), and there is good Pike fishing nearby. If you go in the blue weather shack the old-timers will critique your landing for you. The roadhouse rents out the "old rooms" (common bathroom at the end of the hall) for around $75 and the "new rooms" (bathroom in the room) for around $120. Attached are a few pics.

I wont be able to make that flight, but I would love to see if we can get something together for the second half of June, how about flying the Denali Highway? There are lots of strips along it and we could have everybody meet at Galkona....and fly to Cantwell, maybe even zig and zag through the Alaska range??? Camp overnight? Tim

Also, for those interested in MOREL mushrooms, my picking grounds are starting to produce. One will need floats however.

Sure rub it in!!! I have about 15-20 hours invested in hunting and got one small meal for it. Larry

As much as it rains in Seward, I am suprised they are not growing on your walls, roof, sidewalk, driveway, the hood of your car!!!

Ouch. Now THAT'S funny! Dan, I really like mushrooms but alas, I am still on wheels for the time being. Maybe in a couple of weeks. Keep us posted.

Tim, I like your Denali Highway idea. I just flew past both ends of it this week on the way to Fairbanks and Nebesna and it's beautiful country. The camp out sounds great too.

We all know a pilots famos last words. but the blue building will shure help lowering the preflight time and the O- sh-t factor.
