  • Shielding cans over front plugs

Anyone have experience with the Luscombe type shielding cans / ceramic plugs to avoid cowl bumps?

Do you use a regular sparkplug gasket in addition to the can or does the can act as a gasket? How do they work? Any radio issues when using these?

I have the Ercoupe cups on my top plugs and the cup forms the gasket. With the Ercoupe cups you DO NOT use a plug gasket. I didn't have to make any changes to my top cowl. I still have a very slight bit of radio noise but I'm going to shield the P leads and when that is done I suspect any remaining noise will clear up.

I used a shorter shielded plug, REM37BY, they are about .5" shorter than an REM40E. Didnt need the cups or blisters. Tim
