  • Rudder repair

Well I got my rudder back last week, it is just like new. Levi at Airforms Inc made new ribs and a new 3/8" trailing edge. I had Scott at Weldworks in Fairbanks weld the ribs in. It looks better than new and is marginally heavier. It was nice having the ribs prepunced and bent up for the tubs. If someone needs to repair a prewar rudder, I can get them to make more ribs, a complet set would be around 100.00. Just passing the info along....Tim

I will post pics later in the week.

Nice job. When does the covering start?

        Re: Rudder repair

I started on Sunday, I have the fabric polytacked on, now I need to put the first coat of brush on so I can get it ready for rib stiching. I have to work on the wings Tue-Sat because that is when the craft shop is open here at Ft. Greely. Sun-Mon are for the rudder. I am thinking of doing a Bermuda Tan/Insiginia white checker board for the rudder....subtle but better than just white. Tim

Sounds cool. Wouldn't want to mask that checkerboard though.
