  • Glass Cowl Changes

GUYS going to change the conture of the cowl a bit . Going to make it so if you trim it 4 inches it will fit the short nose unit , will have to do a little massaging to make it fly , but it will be good to go . Going to post pictures on the forum prior to making the plug , taking longer than I would like , but good things take time . Watch for piks soon and any coments are welcome , thanks HARPO !!!!

Harpo, are you going to bag it? or just do a wet layup? are you going to obtain an STC for your cowling? Just curious. Tim

      Re: Glass Cowl Changes

tim going to wet lay up the 1st one just to see what we get as far as fit , my plans are to ck fit and then bag it to cut the weight down . As far as an stc have not thought about it yet untill I have one in my hands !! Going to put more clearance on the lft frnt cyl and exhaust , and also more compound curve in the lower section , that way we can cut them shorter to fit the shoties . going to poop on the plug this weekend and post the resaults with piks next week or so , shop is really bizzzzzzy gotta steal some time to get this wraped up . I know that this will be a more than useable part for alotta guys with weak cowls . I plan on making them avalable to guys that need them , time will tell THANKS HARPO

        Harpo,
Glad to hear you are making the change to fit BC models. Look forward to more pics.

          Re: Glass Cowl Changes

          Harpo,
I am trying to picture in my head how the trim lines and separation points will be. I am attaching a VERY rough sketch of what I have pictured. I am interested in how you are planning to configure though. My idea is 4 pieces
          A. top cowl
          B. plug in top of nose piece
          c. nose piece
          D. Bottom cowl.

The side trim lines should be the same or possibly a little lower than the original as necessary to reach top and bottom spark plugs. If you adopt the item B, then C and D could be integral as a single piece. Well - for that matter - A & B could be a single piece also. Then you are down to two pieces.

          What are your thoughts?
