Was at Sun-n-Fun today, was better but still lots of water soaked ground, we normally get 1.4" in April but got like 5 " on Sunday. It was great, its a SnF thing to enjoy. Walked all over vintage are and there were very few aircraft and didn't see a Tcraft one. Going to splash in at Fantasy of Flight tomorrow, may fly the Tcraft over if they give me an Okay.

Sun N Fun has had its come uppins this year. Frankly the planners may need a dose of reality in the era we now find ourselves. The weather was as much a factor this year as fuel. I am truly sorry for those who enjoy the event. I know I have in the past. I do think thoughts given to some of the local flyins are in play now more than ever. For example there is an event that has been quietly making inroads in the upstate of SC in October the last few years. A wealthy benafactor has a one hundred foot wide by 5000feet long lush grass strip . The fields that surround it are mowed and just as nice overlooking a large pond/lake. It is only open to pilots free camping .....no sponsors no judging no carnival atmosphere... no one sucking the life out of your pants when one flys in either. Frankly the large flyins need to start thinking more about what makes the show in the first place....the pilots . If they want the people they need the planes To get the planes in todays market they might better get away from the no tickie no laundry mentality. Fuel is going to change our landscape dramaticly !!!

        Thanks for the plug!

I know what you mean about the size of these shows. I totally agree and most of my friends and I go to smaller ones and enjoy them a lot better. I think most of these folks that run the larger events view it more as a business rather than just aviation fellowship.

          Hi Suzy,

Glad to see you made it back. How was the trip home? We flew over some pretty big weather systems that were in your flight path. It was great meeting you and all your friends around the special SnF 'campfire'. Drop me a line and I'll have the F-19 fueled and ready for you when you come through Anchorage.

James...The weather was terrible! It took me three days to get back! Usually it takes me 2 days tops! So total trip was 6 days of flying and 28.5 hours of flight time. It was great meeting you and you fit in real well! I will definatly take you up on the F-19 ride the next time I have some time in Anchorage!

Crispy...that was actually a little creative editing...the water didn't get up to the axles...close...but no cigar! ..Thankfully!!!

Thanks to all that stopped by to say hello!

Forrest had it pretty rough this year too! On the way down a flight attendant mixed my drink with Diet Coke instaed of Coke , and they ran out of peanuts too! Trip down was 2:04 back was 1:48 .
I know , I know , I have become a lousy advertisement for Taylorcraft, but I do other things down there too! REally loved meeting with the tribe each day, got to talk a bit with Suzy and her wet experiences .
I do a bit in Rotorcraft, went to the Splash In , watched our Gang fly the Cubs at Jack Browns seaplane base, ate a lot at Billy Bones., had a great time , came home and have spent five days catching up around Alliance.
