Wow, thats nice........Keep that one forever and ever!!!Originally posted by crispy critter View PostThanks Mike but it's not so nice looking now. It was involved in an incedent so it's in the starting stages of rebuilding again.
However,it is worth all the fuss because it is the taylorcraft that my father and grandfather both learned to fly in. It has been in my family since the late 1950's.

From what I could gather its got right at 965 hrs on it.........Originally posted by Ragwing nut View PostI don't remember the hours on the engine, but I do remember it is a miltary overhaul, never had a cylinder off it, and I think it was fairly low time. It has been at least 10 years since we annualed it. Memory is a little foggy.

Re: Needing to sell my fathers 1946 BC-12D
He did that big patch on the passenger side within the last year or so. He said he went down to the airport one day and there was a big tear in that wasnt there the last time he had been down. Obviously she needs recovering and some other TLC by someone who will appreciate it like my dad did and keep his spirit alive.....I feel like I have made a few friends here already and I appreciate all everyone has done for me so far. I will take some more pics this weekend and you can post them as well. I need to take some of the cockpit and let you all see that. It is in need of some TLC as well!! Thanks again.........Mike

Thanks for doing that for me Kevin......Thats funny, I didnt realize that the exhaust wasnt original! My dad loved flying Luscombes too!!Originally posted by crispy critter View PostHey tribe,Mike emailed me these pics of his dad't t-craft(N43463). I know he had problems earlier and could not post them so I resized them and here they are. Let's help him out. I sent him an email with some of my personal advise, opinions, and even a rough offer if he decides to sell. I think whoever gets this bird really needs to take there time with it and really restore it right, original, and the to show quality. This is truely one of the last truely straight un butchered t-crafts. The only thing I can see that isn't original is the luscombe exhaust.....and I thought that was my idea, lol.

Re: Needing to sell my fathers 1946 BC-12D
Thanks Brie.........That is something to definately think about!!!Originally posted by taylorcraftbc65 View PostMike,
If your family doesn't need the money, and you ever had the desire to share what the Eagles know, this is the PERFECT time and situation to do it.
I started flying in a 7AC Champ when I was fourteen years old, but was never able to own my own ship till I was in my late thirties. Renting was SOOO expensive that I eventually built my own ultralights, and flew them.
It wasn't till 2004 that I owned my BC-65, and I would not sell her for ANY amount of money.
If you learn to fly in your father's ship, it will cost you a fraction of the amount it would normally cost you to get your licence.
Then, just take her up on a cross country flight some night, away from any city lights, relax, and listen to your dad tell you flying stories.
My dad flew, but I never got the chance to fly with him, or to fly any planes he flew. You have a RARE opportunity.
Yours in Flight, Brie
