  • Movie: 60th Paralell

Has anyone watched the video for sale titled: 6oth Parallel? It had a write up in Water Flying magazine put out by the SPA.

Do any of you Alaska gang know the pilot or the beaver that it featured?

    John,

You mean "60 Degrees North at 500 Feet"?

I bought a copy of the CD from the pilot at Oshkosh last summer, where they had the Beaver on display. Great film -- makes me want to get a floatplane rating and try to convince my wife to let me buy a Beaver. (As if! Maybe just floats for the Taylorcraft.) Stunning Canadian scenery, good cinematography, and even a cute puppy passenger. Can't find my copy now, of course -- I must have loaned it to someone.

I think the plane and pilot are based in Washington, not Alaska. The brochure on their website lists all the pilots involved:

The pilot is my very good friend Mike Lunenschloss of Lake Sammamish, Washington. He also has a cabin at Nimpo Lake, BC. Mike and I were very active in the Washington State Seaplane Pilots Association during its early years. Mike and his Beaver do most of their flying in Canada and Alaska. If you look closely at the credits at the end of the video, you will note that my my wife and I are given credit. All we did to deserve this credit is be his friend and give him encouragement to live life to the fullest.
