    Re: Engine Baffling (EBAY)

Actually Brie my question was misleading, I should have said they flew, instead of just flew. I was a freshman in highschool, so I am about 10 to 15 years too young to have been flying then.
What did happen was I wrote an essay in my freshman year in H.S. for a contest sponsored by Ozark airlines the subject of which was "How a Local Airline Contributes, ect..." With the help of a wonderful dedicated English teacher I managed to win in my school (to the frustration of all the upper grades.)
The award for winning was a day flight, with winners from other schools, from Marion, IL to Nashville, TN, a guided tour of the city, and a marvelous night flight back. We were allowed to go up to the cockpit on one leg of the return flight and you can imagine what that was like for a kid my age. We could see some city lights outside and the gauges were all lit up red. The seat where I was sitting allowed me to see the blue flames coming out of the exhaust pipe and the manifold glowed bright red through the cowl flaps and lit up all the cylinders. My first flight in an airplane and I have been hooked on night flying ever since. Needless to say I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Ozark Airlines and DC-3's.

      Flyguy,
Then you, no doubt, know why, after United Airlines sent a ten year old kid about a hundered black and white photos, each with a short description of the historical significance of the aircraft in the photo, I have such a soft spot in my heart for UAL. Brie
