  • Strut AD and the F 19

I have a 1977, F19 serial number 105 and I have had one set of struts replaced on the right side. About 10 years ago, if I read things correctly. It's my understanding that if I have sealed struts. The A.D. would not apply to me??

My question is, how do I know what type of struts. I have on my plane? I don't have anything like that in my logs and was just wondering if somebody can tell me if there is a way to tell what type of struts. You have, by using the serial number of the aircraft or is there a way to look at the strut it self and tell if it's sealed? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sealed struts are SEALED. There MAY be a drain hole at the bottom. That is not sealed. The front strut has to have a bushing at the top end to seal it pull it down and check.
The rear strut has an adjustment screw IF you can run a welding rod down into the strut it is not sealed...

These questions have been adrdessed many times on this forumn.

Now that I have had my fun at 12 midnight EST..... where did the newer struts come from? Who was the test pilot on your ship?

To my knowledge no 19's were sealed. The same for the F-19's.

          thanks forrest
my F19 has been in a hangar since it was new. And since I live in a dry climate of Eastern Oregon I can pretty much guarantee. I have no corrosion. Anyway, do you think I should comment to the FAA considering the relative newness of the F19 series as it relates to the A/D?

Just based on the age I do not think that the F19 should be included am I wrong?

They are included..... make your comments to perhaps allow for a re look at the situation after the initial inspections. ie IF no F-19 struts are bad then ??? 5 yrs 10 yrs. ??
