        Re: Replacement parts sources

Here are a list of serveral things I can think if right off the top of my head that most people either need or would buy simply to better thier aircraft. Some of these may not be cost effective but I think you could do good on them if you could put them out there.

        1) Adjustable jury strut mounts(The ones that thread into the bottom of the wing)

        2) Cowlings- upper & lower for the BC12D and F-19(more demand for the BC12's and redesign for a top cowl hinge like on the Cessna 120,140, and early 170's to allow easier removes and easy to repair,I have pics of the one I made)

        3) Lower windshield trim(fastens the bottom of the windshield to the boot cowl)

        4) Fuel tanks- right, left & header as well as fuel valves for both the main and wing tanks.

        5) Boot cowls

        6) Landing gear legs(or at least offer to rebuild if possible)

        7) Panel blanks

        8) Slider door window kits(for both side to include frame work and all for those wanting to convert from a one piece to a slider)

        9) Rear window frames(small D window like on the delux or some post war birds, not the big one like on the F-19)

        10) Right side brake kits

        11) Tear drop cowl bumps (made from metal)

        12) Aileron hinges brakets

        13) Bungee covers & bungee installation tool

        14) Trim Pulley's & misc parts

        15) Wing tip leading edge piece that goes from the tip bow to the first nose rib

        16) Last but certinly not least, maybe a good skylight kit and observer door kit(glass door).

          Re: Replacement parts sources

I am already getting new fuel valves approved, the stc is in work.
I also have a gear getting Jigged up for production of new replacement gear and a hydraulic toe brake conversion. It takes time and money for me to get this going...

Here is what I can think of needing someday soon with my project:

            1) a wood former kit, or replacement parts
            2) rear D window frames
            3) Firewall
            4) boot cowl

Buy an new superior cylinder, less hassle in the long run. I went through 5 cylinders in 150 hours for cracks/stuck valve/spark plug blowing out.

                  Re: Replacement parts sources

Hey gang we have a few new parts for you. We have front and rear jury strut clamps (for our struts). Fronts 2690 are $33.21 ea, Rears 1296 are $23.60 ea. and Jury Strut Adjusters, A-A819 are $49.50 each.

Now I must add a caveat to this. I have the parts on the shelf. They presently do not have a PMA approval, but that is in the works. My guess is that it will be a couple of months before we see a PMA supplement. You may want to touch base with your IA before purchase during this interim period.

Thanks for the heads up on the new parts Mike.

BTW, I sent an e-mail to your people stating that your A-500 axle washers do not fit the Taylorcraft BC12-D axle. I sort of expected some response, but did not get one.

At any rate, your p/n A-500s are 15/16 inside diameter and they are way too big for the tapered axle.

Mark, I have to admit I'm not particularly familiar with those washers. A couple of questions:

                      1. Are those washers used on both the straight and tapered axle gears, or is that part number just used on the tapered axle.

                      2. What size should the hole be?

Regardless of your answers, you certainly are not obligated to be stuck with them. Send them back to my attention with a quick note and I'll see you get a full credit - pronto.

We have had a recent reduction of staff and sometimes can be a little busier than we have been, but it is not still so busy that somebody should not have gotten back to you.

                        Mike,
Here is a photo of your p/n A-500. Yours is 15/16 ID. I believe it should be 3/4 ID, but I will re-measure the axle tomorrow.
It is only on the taper axle according to the Taylorcraft parts manual.

                          Re: Replacement parts sources

                          Mark,

We've checked out the parts that we have in the A-500 box. Those particular parts are something that we have had for years and years. They are not a part we have any or very little sales on those washers which would would explain my ignorance on them.

In our looking at the parts book, the A-500 is called out for the taper axle. The straight axle has a locking nut like the Cub which is a big threaded tube that has holes to safety it to the axle via a cotter pin.

We don't have any drawing or anything to sort this thing out. Do you or anybody else know what the part number of a keyed washer with a 15/16 dia hole and what its application is?

                          Mike

Well 25/32 is pretty close to 3/4. It certinaly is not 15/16. We need to yank the parts out of our A-500 box. I still need to figure out what the heck it is that I've got.

Wow, more participation and correspondence on this Forum by Univair in three days and over one simple washer... than the entire amount of participation and correspondence from the Taylorcraft factory in the entire time I've been on this group.

                                Thanks, Univair.

Are you really sure you don't want the T-craft type certificate again??? Pleeease!!!
