Sure would be nice if someone in AUTHORITY at the FAA would just say:

With this Mfgrs struts this is the paperwork that has to be done, and do that with each Mfgr. Sure would be nice for a change. Doesn't seem much of a challenge, considering it is their documentation and so far they only have two mfgrs to deal with.

But then considering what I have seen of the government documentation perhaps I AM underestimating the challenge.

What makes you think they have anyone in "authority".
They are all in authority so get to develop their own
    interpretations.

        Re: Responsibility

I feel bad polluting the forum with all this crap while trying to figure this out.

So I half apologize for that but I half don't too because you want to get the papers right and it should be simple.

I have seldom seen such confusion. But I also notice that no heavy weights are weighing in on this so it must really be confusing.

At this moment and for the last 28 hours I am convinced that the event that spawned all this crap is Airframe Inc's statement that you do not need a 337 for their STC and the Anchorage ACO listing the struts manufactured for the STC as replacement parts rather than modification parts.

        Half sorry, Dave.

I see that it's real simple, buy the struts, install them and then fill out the 337 for the STC, Finished. Its not that hard....Tim

              Re: Responsibility

Tim, I have to think that one would do that right after he figures out which manufacturer's struts require a 337 or if neither of them does, or both of them do.

We are still getting different stories from different "authorities." Eventually I am going to have to drop all this on my inspector; I feel sorry for him.

The horse I am beating isn't dead but rather staked down to the ground with conflicting interpretations of status/regulations.

I'm personally just waiting until it finally gets straightened out, and I probably should cool it with the rhetoric until then.
