Yesterday evening I flew 24383 (my BC-65) for the first time after rebuild. This is the first flight since 1972 about 5 years before I was born!

Re: First flight!
Winston,
Congratulations from the AK. tribe also...you will have a lot of fun with that plane there in the Valley. When you get the bugs worked out and have a bit of time...you will have to make a long cross-country up North...you're almost here anyway...! At the very least, since you work for Cubcrafters, you ought to buck for a ticket on the jet next spring and make an appearance at the Alaska Airmens' Show in Anchorage. It would be good to meet you face to face. Again, kudos on the completion. DickDick Smith N5207M TF#159

Re: First flight!
Good for you Winston. My plane is 6 years older then me as I just turned a youthful 60 this year! LOL By the way I have made a rib jig and am waiting for cold weather to give me time to start on the rib rebuild. Yes we want pics!

Re: First flight!
Well Winston, about the time you were born I was making my first solo. A 1941 BL-65. N29630. My second solo was a BC12-D N43076 and the third was in a different BC12-D N96797. That was all in October of 1977 and here thirty years later what plane do I most often fly? A BC12-D. Wow, where has the time gone?

Re: First flight!
Winston,
It's good to know I'm not the only kid in the crowd. I landed in this world in 1974....it sounds as if you have taken the title from me of being the youngest in the tribe. It really feels great to bring back something from our grandparents era and make it all new again(only better). I only got to fly Crispy once after an 8 year resurrection from the ashes after most told me it couldn't be done......it was the greatest flight I have ever had. Then after that it met it's demise again. At least my father had a chance to fly her 2 or 3 times, that was the important part to me,and he will fly her again soon. I plan to rebuild her one more time.
Congrats on the rebuild and enjoy it.Kevin Mays

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.
