  • C-FXSU Completed and Test Flown

Almost five years to the day since I picked up my Taylorcraft Model 19, I can now declare that I have officially completed the project. I test flew the aircraft yesterday in North Bay, Ontario and it flew like a dream.

For those who have been wondering, a relocation to Vancouver, B.C. this past August prevented me from getting everything done and flying earlier. Unfortunately, the plane still resides in a hangar in North Bay, while I live in Vancouver! At some point, I hope to move it west, but I have been unable to locate hangar space in Vancouver and can't bear the thought of leaving the airplane outside in the rain!

Anyway, yesterday was a very satisfying culmination to five long years of effort. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all of the help and advice, whether you knew you were giving it or not.

Attached is a picture following the successful test flight.

Grant, my fullest congratulations! I have been there and done that, so I know you will be absolutely thrilled with your achievement. A very well done!

Distance is no object. You should try to be the ferry pilot, if you possible can. "The joy is in the journey", as a friend of mine says.

How about some of our close by American friends?
Edenvale is 1 hr North of Toronto by T craft at the bottom of the beatuful Georgian Bay.
I think it is just of the Chicago Sectional.

NOW fly her and enjoy, stay safe. Hope to see her here sometime, maybe we can fly over east to her birth place , do you have original log to show test pilot and when at Conway?

                Forrest,

I have all the original logbooks. The serial number is 4-13035 and the date of manufacture was 11-28-51. The production test flight occurred on Jan. 2nd, 1952 and the pilot was Jack Gilberti.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to fly her down to Alliance. The plane is now in the Canadian "Owner Maintenance" category which is not recognized in the States. That means no crossing the border. One of those trade offs that you make when converting to "Owner Maintenance"!
