I stopped by Alaska airframes today. I was talking to Lee about his lift stuts.
I told him that there was some people that thought maybe the factory struts may be stronger. He showed me a test on the rear strut material. he had a pice that was about 5 feet long it was on a stand about a foot off the floor and held by the very ends. Lee told me he waghs about 240 lbs. He jumped up and down on the middle of the strut about 10 times. We looked at the strut after it was as streaght as a arrow.
I asked him to write down what the struts were made of so he did This is what he wrote and i quote.
Rear strut matl is .049 4130 cromoly UNBREAKABLE
Front Strut Matl is the same that we build supercub front struts out of -600D
for a gross wt of #2000 on cubs end quote.
what the 600D is i am not shure but the struts are a little bit bigger and he supplys all of the clamps.
Lee also said that he is going to update his web site hopefully this week.
