  • seaplane empty weight?

Seaplane guys......Does the empty weight seem correct on this 337? (pg 2 of the EDO 1320/337 posted on the technical resource page.)

    Re: seaplane empty weight?

When you remove the gear, wheels, tires, bungies, tail wheel, etc. It adds up to about 80 lbs removed and the floats weight from 100-180 lbs depending on model, fittings, repairs and hardware. If they used the certificated weight as the starting point, (they are always a little on the light side) , it would give a low weight as installed. Tim

I am glad that someone is looking at what was submitted, its for reference for anyone to use the data to get thier own field approvals.

I agree...80lbs is removed from the airframe...then add the weight of EDO 1320's. I had a set of 1320's before that was 182lbs including all the rigging....my Baumann 1500's are about 195 lbs with everything. The TC says Edo's are 165 lbs......seems a little light to me....my e.w. on floats is as follows

Plane Empty Weight (Wheels) = 824 lbs
Plane Empty weight (Floats) = 939 lbs

      824 - 80 + 195 = 939.

I have a BC12d-85 with no electrics and extended baggage just for reference

        Re: seaplane empty weight?

Thanx for the responses guys. Just trying to get a better feel for what to expect from floats someday. The 775# empty weight as listed on the 337, is then, a reasonable weight for a prewar on floats.

Would a 65hp ever get off the water at full gross of 1228#?
