  • Some days are better than others...

Just landed on floats, last light, beautiful evening, tied down and walked into the house...can't help wanting to share such an evening flight with the Whole Tribe. Just plain beautiful. Dick

Thanks for sharing that, Dick. It was a beautiful evening and I didn't get to fly...I'm glad someone got to take advantage of it.

Maybe we'll get to meet sometime if I'm ever flying down in your neighborhood. I bought Dave Spence's F-19 (he knows you and passed along a set of brakes you donated). I've enjoyed all of the pictures you have posted of your T-Craft in action here in AK.

        Dick.

Any day you get to fly is great, some days are just better than others. I flew last night watching the fog roll in, still nice, that short afternoon flight is a great stress relief after a day working.

I know Dick you already said that in the heading, I didn't think before I hit the submit button. Sorry.

Damn, that sounds nice. Here in east kentucky where we are normally seeing highs in the 40's and 50's this time of year with a hot spell topping out in the 60's for october, it has been in the mid to high 80's. We haven't even had a cold night yet,no frost, nothing. We almost always see a little light snow shower before holloween and I'm still working day and night in shorts and a t-shirt(if I wear a shirt). I haven't even winterized my boats(still using them almost every week). This weather is crazy down hear. You guys turn your tails south east, throttle up and give us a little cold snap to get things started for us,lol. I like the warm weather but I also like the snow too. Send us all a good white winter season and put it on my bill.

...if I don't wear a shirt the neighbors call the cops.

Peter...I can appreciate your comment about the quick late afternoon flight being a stress reliever. One of the things I have going for me is the plane is 5-minutes away from the office. I know exactly what you mean...

I wish we had that kind of weather last night. I too was flying but it didnt relieve any stress. I had to fly the 206 to Telida for a medical emergency, it was good when I took off but on the way home the weather got bad. I had 1 1/4 mile in the dark with snow to get back into McGrath. Nice picture, thanks. Barney

Here in the nations capital area, we are having a 90 degree day-October 6th!!!!!!!!

Any of you ALASKA gang have any strong feelings about global warming? Do you believe it, or do you see any evidence of it?

I flew the F-19 floatplane yesterday. The Chesapeake Bay was calm which is very rare. I spent a good part of the day descending at 1700rpm holding the yoke steady with a little nose up attitude. Once or twice the only indication I had that I had touched down was a teeny feeling of deceleration. Awesome.

                      Sneaky Momma

John, I'm working on your question re: Global Warming...and Alaska sentiments
I asked 6 or 7 guys that question over pizza yesterday...we had left our "better 1/2's" at a baby shower for one of the ladies...I'm still processing their comments.
In the meantime, these frosty days bring the critters in closer. Dick

This cow tried leaving these two big calves while they were frolicking in the yard and down on the edge of the lake. She needs to ditch them and connect with a bull...the youngsters don't figure in the equation.

                              what a view!
my 2 cents on global warming is it is the latest fad attempt by the whackos at population control.
It is just to bad we have so many cowards in high places now who join up to look good.....such as the other day I saw an envelope from Hewlett Packard to send printer cartridges in labeled as "planet partners program" or if you don't say please recycle on your packaging you might risk boycots of your product...........give me a break.
I hope the eternal combustion engine is here to stay...I mean internal
