  • Anyone received their new factory struts yet?

    Thanks,

I ordered mine on 8/17. At that time, the factory quoted shipping in 3 to 4 weeks. I called last week and was told 1 to 2 weeks more -- so expecting a call soon. I needed a BFR so checked out in a new Sport Cruiser -- very nice ship, but I want my T-Cart back. I'll let y'all know when they ship and arrive.

hopefully you get something for your money and not a bucket full of excuses as to why you don't have them.

I wonder if they will arrive with surface rust like is shown in the picture of the struts on the Taylorcraft website.

Let us know when you get them and how well they are built.

Have any one got struts from the factory yet.
Does any one know how many are on order ,or back ordered from
        the factory.
You would think, they would of had a bunch made up by now.
They had a head start on every one with this AD.

I ordered my stuts from Aircraft Spruce 3 weeks ago and received them on a direct ship from Univair last week with no documentation. Today (after speaking daily with Spruce and once to Univair) I finally received the Conformity Certificate and documents for traceability. No fault of Spruce, but the Univair folks were jerks.

See Strut AD thread, Univair struts are now officially an approved AMOC and an FAA supported terminating action for the AD.

I heard from the factory today! They will have their front strut tubing tomorrow. I expect them to ship my struts (2 sets) next week. I am working on the 2 F22 CGs in the lower 48. The F22s require the factory front struts which are stronger than the Univair struts. Our GW is 1750#. You folks with the BC12Ds (who never overload them!) can get by with the smaller struts, but why should you?

I agree, the people at Univair are jerks. I won't buy anything from them any more because of their attitude and high prices.

To be fair, flexflyer's contract was with Aircraft Spruce. If they did not provide necessary documentation, they are contractually at fault.

Never had a problem with Univair, myself.

I agree UNIVAIR has been good to me.

If you buy from a re-seller hold them responsible they are getting 10% just to handle the paper.

                    Oh yeah, and they didn't.

I can sell you UNIVAIR struts too. I'll take the 10% and will give you the papers!

I ordered my struts from Univair on 8/15/07 and they arrived on the
shipping dock at my workplace on 9/4/07 nicely packaged in a large
shipping tube. Air freight via Fed Ex was $103.28
The struts are primed and ready to paint and install.
It's nice to know I will have complied with the AD by the November deadline
once and forever! I consider that good service! I was very satisfied with
                      Univair!

I ordered new rear struts from Univair earlier this year and found them excellent to deal with.

Does there have to be some special documentation from Univair besides the invoice showing the part number?

I'd like to add that I ordered the struts at an old catalog price, the price changed up before they were shipped, they charged me the new price, but when I complained they refunded the difference. The struts came in a timely way, well-packaged, primed, and I'm very pleased. They are less expensive than the Taylorcaft struts.

                              Hi Ed,

                              I am not sure.

I had a discussion with Andy Mcanaul last week because I am finding the entire procedure violates my common sense and what I thought I knew about FAA data.

According to me beleif after talking with him I was convinced that you do need a copy of the AMOC letter from Univair in order to declare the Univair struts as a terminating action for the AD.

So I got a copy from them for the aircraft records.
