    EXACTLY!
Also, and I keep getting reminded of this (you pointed it out also) ... the standard under which this a/c was certified was CAA 18 (?) - MikeH

Ironically I called an told them what to look for and what to expect to find so the word didn't bother me as much because they came to the expected conclusion. Usually you hear "furthermore" when someone has a conflicting opinion.

My wife uses "furthermore" when she is "unloading" on me, and i think it means like, in addition to, but by that point i'am not listening, sorely beaten and back to work on the T. O. T.

Re: Replace a weld on landing gear strut?

When we had to repair the streamlined tubing on my gear, my mechanic read somewhere that it could not be spliced, only replaced. I did a google search...does this quote make sense?

        "SECTION 20. LANDING GEARS

        (A) If damaged landing gear struts are made of streamlined tubing they shall not be repaired, but shall be replaced.
NOTE: If damaged landing gear struts are made of round tubing they may be repaired by using splices similar to those shown in figures 1 to 8.

        (B) Damaged axles shall be replaced entirely.

        (C) The straightening of landing gear struts and the filling of kinks with weld material is prohibited." --Aero-Bulletin Number:

Here is the link I found.
