    New Sealed Struts in Alaska

I just talked to Lee at Airframes Inc. in Ancorage, AK. He said they should should have new life-time struts approved and manufactured in 3 weeks. The cost will be 1800 for a set of 4 struts or 450/each.

Their number is 907-892-8244. Tell 'em Nick from Ketchikan sent ya.

That is cheaper than Univair. They want $2727 for all 4. How much is the factory going to ask for theirs?

Just looked on the factory web site.
          Complete kit
4 struts, 2 jury struts, bolts, straps, every thing you need for $3450.00
The front struts are $834.50 each.
The rear struts are $783.07 each.
About $1617.50 per side or about $3235.00 for the set.

I'm interested in finding more about those struts from Ak at $400.
per strut. At $1600 for four struts, I would jump on new struts.

            here's the Alaska website

can we buy a herd of them shipped to one location to save on shipping and get discount ? \Start a Good Old Boy transportation relay system where someone would pick them up and drop them at another location ( members House) to be picked up or relocated closer to other members homes . Being its just as easy to pick up 20 as it is 1. Money could be put in an escrow account so as not to get burnt. Seems we have Alaska Tribe members that could handle that. Maybe several shippments to dif locations . Depends on shipping costs. Seem ABF has good rates but may be cheaper shippers out there.

I'd check out Delta Airfreight...I shipped a couple spars from Oregon to MT for about $50 a couple years ago..I'm sure it's going to be a bit more now. Airframes has some people that handle their stuff down here (in the lower 48)already, so maybe they'll have a cheaper way to ship. I do know that Airframes' stuff is more than first class...they're a really good outfit, and have a great reputation with customers as well as the FAA, so I'd see no problem with them getting approvals for the struts on time.
