  • how the hell do you annual one of these things!

If you live in Phoenix, AZ?!

Our annual is due in August and I'll be damned if I can find ANY IA's out here who do tube/fabric aircraft.

This is rather dissappointing. I did manage to find one guy who would do it but he doesn't have a facility to do it in and we don't have a hangar (year 11 of an 18 year waiting list)

does anyone know of anyone in the Phoenix area who annuals tube/fabric aircraft??

Look online for the following groups:

    Local EAA Chapter
    Local IAC Aerobatic club
    Local VAA Vintage aircraft chapter
Organizers or board members of the Copperstate Fly-In
Estrella Soaring down in Mobile, AZ south of town

Each of these groups should have knowledge of someone who will do a tube and rag annual.

If all else fails, go to Casa Grande airport and try to find a guy named Sonny Zapata, I think Sunshine Aviation. He helped me out in 1992 with my Auster. If he's still around he's a good guy and will help you.

If you find Sonny, tell him I said hello, the strange guy with the British plane who's magnetos wouldn't work and who woke him up really early to go help start his plane a long time ago

Andy Estes on Falcon Field. He works for the flight school and I think it is called Arizona Aviation??? He owns a Waco project or two and has worked on rag airplanes for awhile. Also you can try another guy named Jim but I will have to pull his info up. His last name escapes me right now. Another Waco owner and mechanic type.

Methinks you're thinking of Chris, not Jim. Andy's good too.
