  • Blakesburg? Any AAA members going this yr?

I'm 98% sure we're going to Blakesburg this yr. Planning to fly the '39.

    Anyone else going?

I'm planning on being there as I think a few other Taylorcrafters from Ia., Ill., and Ohio. If for some reason mine isn't in the air after the rebuild I'll probably still go with the camper.

probably not, have not been for the last 6 or 7 years either. If the Fairchild was done, I would probably go.

I'm considering flying up in my Air Camper, I'll do it if I can get away from work that long, and if the weather looks good. Terry, you would probably be passing pretty close to my place on the way up, let me know if you need a hangar overnight (identifier - O44).

I'll be there in my Stealth Bomber.... which you can't see me in because it IS a Stealth Bomber. Too far to fly the L2 this year. I'd love to go ... I understand it's quite an affair. Next year, hopefully. Honest to God... I wanna go.

            Steve,
Thanks for the offer... may take you up in the Hangar if we are forced off course by weather. This could happen. We're looking forward to the trip. Also have another friend from the Pietenpol site (J. Markle) near Vinita OK which is more on the way. It is always good to have tailwheel friendly airports and acquaintances along the route. After all, its the people that make this fun.

              Carl,
Perhaps one day we can plan a Taylorcraft fly-out for lunch at Keosaquah or at least a mass fly-over.

Terry, sounds good. It looks doubtful my plane will be done by then. I'm leaving today for 10 days in Italy and my IA leaves on a cruise the day I return. Next year for b'fast would be great.

Re: Blakesburg? Any AAA members going this yr?

We're still planning to make it to Blakesburg weather-permitting and TFR-permitting. Currently grounded by TFR as Laura and George are vacationing here at the Western White House. The current plan is for the TFR ending on Monday 8-27. We plan to leave on Wed 8-29. If they decide to extend their stay, we are out of luck - no transponder. We'll be stuck under the 30-mile radius around P-49.

We were hoping to get a maintenance test hop done this coming weekend as we've been doing some things to the airplane. (New Wag Aero Exhaust and recent powder coated tail wire fittings and jury strut brackets). Haven't flown the airplane in 2 months and we have been fighting Red Wasp Nests. Hope to clear those out before Wednesday.:clue?:

Terry- Behind the plane in the 1st photo on posting #12 there appears to be a clipwing Tcraft (red and black) Was it indeed a clipwing? I do not recognize that one. I'd love to see some pictures if it is.

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.
