I replaced my cork float with a metal one as per suggestions gleaned from research here. I now have an issue that at least one other person that I have talked to has. The float won't drop in flight. It will stay in one place until landing. Maybe at approach speeds, but I have not paid attention to it in that phase of flight. Any ideas how to rectify that problem?

Re: Fuel Float not dropping
My cork float does that as well. I've straightend the wire many times so it doesn't catch as it needs to slide down, with no luck. After an hours time or so, slowing down to about 60 MPH will let it drop to meet the fuel level.Mike

Re: Fuel Float not dropping
You might make sure the ends of the the tube (where the rod goes through) are smooth and radiused. The slightest sharp edge will "grip" the rod. Also, if the metal float is quite a bit lighter than the old cork one, try wraping some solder around the rod, above the float, temporarily, and see if the added weight helps.

The second thing is I stepped on the doggone thing and pretty much trashed the cork.
Don't ask. LOL

Re: Fuel Float not dropping
Reminds me of the time I had a ski injury by dropping a full wine bottle and breaking my toe -- couldn't get my boots on for nearly 3 weeks!! Anyway, keep your corks popping.Dan Brown
