  • OshKosh Time

Once again it is time to get ready for Oshkosh. For those of you who stoped by last year, you know that the magaritas flow all night. This year I will bring along the ultimate grilling accessory, the crafsman powered blender. Hope to see everyone there. George

I went for an interview at G&L many moons ago when I then worked for Bridgeport (didn't expect to get the job, and didn't, but it was an interesting day).

Rob, double-check your calendar please. The EAA Convention at Oshkosh starts on Monday the 23rd and ends Sunday 29th. It might be a little lonesome there after everyone leaves...

As of this time, my boss informs me that our company "delegation" including myself will be at OSH for the first two days. Never been to Oshkosh before...

If anyone who knows would be kind enough to tell me where the Taylorcrafts are parked and/or where the T-craft people meet, I'd appreciate it. I have no idea whatsoever what the "lay of the land" is there.

Just find the "RED BARN" and nearby you'll find Taylorcrafts....usually Forrest is in the Type Club near there "chewing the rag" with enthusiasts.

I'll be camped at the seaplane base Wed, Thurs, Friday. May even have a beer or two by the fire on Winnebago.

WE survived the Fly-In , I have all the registrations and will have a follow up on that thread, thank everyone who showed and those who bought a lot of stuff; Bill Murphy was big spender and Marty Towsley was 2nd ; then a local fellow can in late Sunday and really spent a lot ...... I was on again & off again about going to OSH ; today I decided to go ; I cannot leave till the wee hours Monday; so I will make the Type Club Tent on Monday afternoon. I will be there thru Friday and can use volunteers to man the booth at times. There is no "Taylorcraft Row" this year ( not our turn).
The forumn is on Thurs of course, lots of good new stuff to announce.
For Bill , hope to see you on Tues at least, I will be set up by 9AM.....Type Club Tent. Then we usually hit the Picinic on Wed evening too!!
I ahve a completly new system set up for deposits on items borrowed and three of you will be getting money right after OSH. For the fellow that shipped the metal covers to me for my Taylorcraft, I just found them and lost you addresss, e-mail me direct for your shipping charges. The OLD factory tour was GREAT Duke was a his best and it was all recorded by G. Kent Brown.

                            Re: OshKosh Time

Well I was there for all the rain. LOL Got there Wed. noon, overcast. Got rained on about 40 times Wed. and Thurs. Left Thurs. night, talked to a friend this morning (Fri.) and it was severe clear! Oh well, I got to meet Forest and spent some time with Chet Peek. (got him to sign his book on T-Craft ) I forgot to take your number George I was looking forward to a little liquid libation. Forest has all kinds of breaking news for the forum when he gets back on line. Although I have been there many times it was my first time hanging around T Town, loved it, even Forest can be nice now and then And in deference to Forest I will change my tag to Larry Lyons "but that is so boring".
                            Larry
PS: Just a suggestion from a newby, but could we set a day and time to meet while up there. I spent a lot of effort finding T-Craft to look at and still did not find them all and I would love to put a face to the people I talk too on here. Nothing fancy, maybe just lunch or morning coffee at the Hanger Café or meet at the type table but, there is not a lot of room there. I also met Bob Lees but did not have time to talk to him. Maybe next year?

I'll make a note and remind eveyone about it next year.
