Any suggestions where to put my Garmin 296. I was going to put in the panel where the left glove box was but it interfered with the fuel selector, plus you can't see it from the left side. On top of the panel looks like a good place, but it screws the compasg up 10-15 degrees. If you have the GPS I suppose you don't ned the compass.

I had my garmin 295 mounted with heavy duty velcro on the glareshield right in line with my view out the window. When powered up it had some minmal effect on the Magnetic Compass, but I used the split screen on the GPS to display the moving map on one side and the DG on the other. Always navigated with that and if I didn't turn it on or left it at home, the mag compass worked fine as always when needed. It did not obstruct the view to any degree at all in the F21B. Hope that helps you with your situation.

Maybe try a "RAM" mount? I have a couple for the hand held radio and GPS, and you can use about an location to place one. Most of the styles quickly disconnect if you want to remove everything too.

Here is a picture of my panel in my almost finished T-Craft. I decided to put the GPS on top of the glare shield, even if it interferes with the compass. Like Dennis mentioned when you have the GPS you don't need the compass and when you take the GPS out the compass works fine. I like it on top like that it's easy to see from the left seat or right seat.

My 295 is mounted at the top of the windshield, clamped with a mongrel bracket I made from a Airmap 100 bracket and the 295 bracket to the small cross brace of the fuselage bars that are just over the glareshield.

It's a great spot, doesn't seem to limit visibilty at all and is out of the way. I'll try and shoot a pic of it this week.

I've got an old Pilot 111 from Garmin. It still works great, is precisely the right size to mount on the glare shield next to compass. However, it's not supported fully by the factory anymore... so as a backup I just bought a Garmin 96. I haven't figured out all the bells and whistles inside it... but have mounted it in the nook forward of the throttle and in the windscreen to my left... a perfect place. This is all the room I can spare in the business end of the L2. As such I've got both cooking and updating all the possible information I could want and doing so similtanously. If I get lost now... then I must have gone completely blind too. I also have a handheld ICOM with a remote antennae.
On my trip this past weekend I was getting sites 25-30 miles away -- crystal clear -- and with no trouble.

I keep my Lowrance 1000 mounted on a lap board. Didn't see where it would fit on the panel & I like the larger display.
