  • yellow on a Taylorcraft

Trying to settle an arguement for paint. We are not looking to specl mix anything, but what shade of yellow were Taylorcrafts painted? We are going to paint ours using the polyfiber colors. Does anyone know which of their color ranges would be the closest? Thanks,

I am actually looking more for the pure yellow that is combined with the black on the deluxe models. Was it a lemon yellow, or was it more of an orangeish yellow similar to lockhaven yellow for cubs?

Ryan , there were three yellows we have them all here.... Lemon , Taylorcraft and the beautiful darker one used on the 46 Deluxe..... As I mentioned Jim & Dondi have all this, but you chose the other paint folks since he is your old Instructor..... I respect that ; next time you stop by look at the color charts.. perhaps the yellow used on the discussion site ; THAT is the Lemon...

Be careful with "Diana Cream". The color changed during WW-II. It also changed again while Randolph was selling it. I have their color chips from the 70s or 80s and some from just a few years ago and they are COMPLETLY different. I'm color blind and even I can see they changed the color. This is backed up by having a plane I worked on in the 70s we painted in Diana Cream that is in a museaum in Richmond VA. It still matches the chip from the 70s very well but is nothing like the current Diana Cream.
I like the old DC, the new DC (even though it is different), the Lemon Yellow and ESPECIALLY the original Taylorcraft Ivory. Jim and Dondi have that one and it is BEAUTIFUL with the red or the blue. The old DC also looks really nice with the blue (what they call Nieuport Blue now and was Taylorcraft Metalic Blue around WW-II).

You can't paint a Taylorcraft and make it ugly, except for the Forest Green and Tractor orange my 41 used to be.
