On the primer, we may be saying the same thing, but I specifically asked and he said 'any 2 part not affected by MEK'.

Interesting and frightening on what I'm hearing back from the forum vice what Jim/Dondi say, esp. the contrasting view that the use of Krylon lacquer spray as a preservative, without removing it, would impare the epoxy's ability to hold. - MikeH
Feds can't tell crap from one system to the next. I can tell most the time what covering process was used but it is very difficult to tell when someone used a non approved urethane topcoat until it fails. With the STC covering everything all the way to color now, it aleviates some of Poly Fibers liability.

Just make sure on the 2 part epoxy primer that it is a non sandable primer. Those are a sealed primer and do require topcoats. Sandable 2 part primers are pourous and need topcoating.

Jim/Dondi are very knowledgable people. But there is a HUGE difference between Krylon laquer spray bomb and industrial laquer products. 90% of the adhesion process is in the metal prep itself. If the old laquer can;t be easily removed with a wet MEK rag, it will hold the epoxy just fine.

Thanks Mike! I'll get some Alodine before I prime it.

Here's a strange reason I prefer Poly Fiber other methods:

The training video is excellent. If you only do something every year or so, it is hard to remember the steps, techniques, etc. The video take all the risk away.

Ask me how many times I had to watch the knot being tied, back it up and watch it again (in slow mo), then FINALLY I got the hang of it???
