    Re: gar-aero

Bushwheels has an STC'd 26" tire now, that weighs the same as an 8.50... at least that's what they told me..... I'm gonna sell a set of 31's and get some!

      Re: gar-aero

That's awesome! Here's the page from Bushwheel's website reflecting the STC: Bushwheels STC

It does state that you "must have heavy duty brakes". I wonder specifically what that means. It could be a problem, as I'm unaware of any STC'd brake upgrades. Maybe stronger cables or proof of weekly squats would do the trick!

          Marc,
I've dealt with Gar Aero for years (when Gary Stevenson owned it) and always had great luck...understand he's sold out, and the new people are great to deal with too.... So far, my dealings with ABW have been great, and the tires really aren't comparable, as they're designed to do two different things... Sorry to hear your friend had a bad experience!

              Re: gar-aero

Floats Alaska have the Gar Aero product line, and some out there think that the bush wheels are so great, a local cub driver up here get a stick through them and ground looped it bad...the Gar Aeros are cheaper and can handle much more abuse. Even though they are not STC'd, you an get a field approval ......thier tail wheel conversion is only 600.00 and the bushwheel is like a grand or so. So that is my 2 cents worth. I think that the 26" goodyears would be a cheaper option, but this is coming from a guy that is running 8.50's Well best of Luck Tim
