      Re: Gilberti vs Harer

I ordered the STC from Harer when I had questions as to whether my 85 installation was legal or not. Never used. I found my 85 is legal (per FAA confirmation) as it was signed off on a 337. I'm still only good for 1200 lbs. though. Any way I can help for people with missing drawings or other data, just let me know.

        Darryl,
I have a 46 TCraft which was converted to a Model 19 and then shortly after that to an F19. Unfortunately the logs and paperwork were all lost (stolen actually, but that's another story).
I have the FAA CD which semi-details the conversion(s) and, although it references the STC, I don't have an STC or copy of an STC. I don't believe it was actually done under the STC, but was simply a field approval......that's the way it reads to me.
Anyway, I would love to get copies of the STC drawings so I could verify everything is correct as I put it back together.

          Vincient,
I can get you copies of the 8-1/2 x 11 sheets easy, but I would have to check how I can reproduce copies of the blueprints. May be possible that the info you need is on the page size sheets anyway (with luck.)
          Email me.

            Darryl,
I'd appreciate any help you can give. It'd be great to have the blueprints too....it would save some interpolating on my part. I'll be very happy to pay for your time and any expenses incurred.
If you'd like, I'll send you a copy of the paperwork I have to verify it was done legally on my airplane....it was signed off by the FAA in 1973. Send me a PM when you have the time (I couldn't find your contact info).

            Regards,
            Vincent

What ever happened to Kevin Mays effort to mount an 85 useing the standard short mounts and the new light weight starters to avoid extending the engine mount and the cowling?

                Re: Gilberti vs Harer

I am in the same boat, my Gilberti conversion was done in 1970 all except the C85 install, and the 337 was approved, then in 1983 the c85 went in but no paper work was done that I can tell, I have ordered the FAA CD on my plane and it should be in the mail soon. I had to purchase the Harer STC so my mechanic could go over it and sign off the Motor installation Since the STC paperwork is no where to be found. I am also missinng my engine data plate which I need to come up with one still. Just trying to get the paperwork somewhat in order.

                  Re: Gilberti vs Harer

Hey guys, the Harer STC is not all that expensive to buy. I forgot how much I paid for mine, but I thought it was fairly cheap considering how much trouble it is to get stuff approved on a 337. Why not contact Mr. Harer, deal directly with the "Holder" of the STC, and eliminate a lot of the guesswork.

                    Re: Gilberti vs Harer

I bought the Harer STC this year $250 + $10 postage.

I figured that was the least painful method of compliance.
