  • Leaster B Pearson Airport, Toronto airspace changes.

I know not many are traveling in and out of TO.
Some off you are traveling trought South western Ontario to Oshkoch later on
    So here it is.
The Terminal Radar servise area is expanded to 65 natutical miles radius from the Toronto VOR and has a floor of 6500 ft. This is class E airspace so Transponder is mandatory. Excluded is American airspace falling within the 65 mile radius. You can go under it below 6500 FT.
If you want too pass over Hamilton harbor and over the bridge: This a high trafic area max alltitude is 3500 ft and call Hamilton Tower 125.0 for radar coverage and separation.
Radar separation in a 20 mile radius of Hamilton is recomeded as there is a lot of Jet trafic on approches.
Keep in mind what everywhere in the Niagara area and south western Ontario, you are on radar from Toronto, Hamilton, London or Buffalo.
Over 7000 ft there is a lot of turboprop and jet trafic to and from Pearson.
Lower altitued, approsh altitude closer to Hamilton.
Hamilton also have significant jet trafic during the night as a lot of freight goes to and from Hamilton.
The FSS in St Catharines Ontario can see you at 400 Ft above ground with a picture from anyone of the radar stations.

If you want to stay in Canada, customs are aveable in St Catharines, Brantford, Welland,Bramton, London to name a few. check this info for acuracy as changes to the presentation we where given may happen.
    Effective July 1 2007.
Hamilton has Canadain War plane Heritage museum, and landing fees for aircrafts over? Check it before landing.
Welland/ Niagara Central has low cost Avgas. and NO landing fees this a light aircraft friendly airport with good FBO servise. See Welland Aerocenter's web site.
Branford has 91 octan Mogas + avgas and a good resturant open from 9 am to 2 pm.

Pm me for more info if needed.

Today I was flying just east of Brantford bound for Edenvale. A jumbo on final for Hamilton crosses my path about 500 feet above me. Surprising to say the least. Let me tell you, I spent less time looking at the GPS and more time scanning after that.

Edenvale (just south of Collingwood) is a really happening place. I counted four new high bay steel hangers. Like I said to the fellow flyers - I don't think I have ever SEEN a new hanger before. I was a bit annoyed since the bums in the blue suits with the orange paddles made me taxi on the gravel when there was perfectly good grass available. I went on the grass anyway and the look I received could only be matched by my Wife at her most annoyed.

The radar will see the T craft well in and around Hamilton Ontario.
Dont hesitate to use them. they have radar at the airport. It is safer.
If you are heading North, North east go overhead on an alitude the tower recomemds as you may pass trough the airlines approch paths at any altitude between 3500 and 4500 Ft. The top of the zone is 4000 ft.
I call them anytime I passed along the shore line and over the bridge and I be calling them if I pass on the south side of Hamilton as well , after your experience. I often visit at York so I wil stay low there
Lots of pax trafic in and out Hamilton Ontario now days, as well as freight at night. UPS, Fedex has sorting terminals there.
A NEW VFR TRSA SHART IS TO BE PUPLISHED SHORTLY. It will have approch paths, holding patterns and intersections on it, as well as covering the 65 mile Radius area.
