By the way, if anybody wants to be really authentic, I do the AN woven cable splices used on most pre-WW2 aircraft. I get $30 per end plus materials and shipping.

Sure am. Don't know if everybody here knows of the troubles at Old Rhinebeck, but you can find out at www.theaerodrome.com/forum , click on "Other WW1 Aviation" and "Rhinebeck Museum trouble".
As far as the cable ends, I actually very rarely draw blood, have done lots of them, from a P-40 to Fokkers and Sopwiths. Working on some cables for a 1929 Spartan C-3 now. Don't think I've ever done any Taylorcraft cables yet, but when I re-do my BC-65...Last edited by baldeagle27; 03-08-2004, 21:13.Andrew King

Andrew,
Thought that might be you. You do not know me but you probably know my wife's family from ORA over the years. Ruth-Ann Baughman is my wife, Chuck and Connie Baughman's daughter.
Yeah I heard there were a lot of changes going on. Don't know many details but I will check out the forum. Tom Daley actually left me a message this week about volunteering. My wife and I volunteered quite a bit and was a rugular around ORA. Your dad and brother are great pilots and great people. I really enjoyed working with them last year.
I bought Dan Taylor's T-craft last October and have been having a great time with it.
We also saw you on TLC a few months ago - looked like you guys had a great time. It was hard to believe that those planes were able to fly after only 20 hours of work. It was quite a show.
When it comes time to think about new cables, I will definitely keep you in mind.
Thnanks,
Brian

Do ya all need another pilot up there?I'd love to fly some of those old birds .
I've heard a lot of great things about you and your family,I think it's great what you guys are doing up there and I would love to get involved with some of it.I also seen you on TLC and the Wings channel also(I think).

Brian,
I think only the pre-war Taylorcrafts used the woven spliced cables, post-war used swaged or nicropress, Forrest could tell us.
Before you have anything to do with Rhinebeck, read the theaerodrome.com forum. People who know what's going on up there are not supporting the place right now, and Tom Daly is a big part of the problem, Dan Taylor too.
If you want to go to an up and coming place that's a lot of fun, try the Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel, PA, www.goldenageair.org .
As for the Junkyard Wars show, I guess I've milked it for all I can. It was a lot of fun, but also very intense. Wish I had time to tell the whole story. Darn Brits cheated...
Kevin, come up to the Golden Age Air Museum also, it's closer than NY, and we have a lot of fun there.Andrew King
