  • "Air Service Caravan of New Bedford Inc." wrong phone number...

    Hello My name is Kimberly,

A woman I work with asked me to contact you, (she does not have internet access). Apparently, she has been receiving all kinds of strange phonecalls in the middle of the night for the past 4 years from people asking her to send them Manuals for pre-war B model aircrafts. Finally, she had enough and asked the last person who called her exactly where he got her # from and he stated from your website. Well, she and I checked out your site, thank you, it is very informative, however, her phone # is posted on it for your patrons to contact her for their manuals. So, we have one very upset woman in Dartmouth , MA who is continually being woken in the middle of the night and hundreds of irate people not receiving their manuals!!! She had to actually change her phone # today. I have attached a copy of the link which is incorrect, it doesn't matter to her anymore, because she is finally getting some peace and quite however, I'm sure you're warehouse is overflowing with model B war plane manuals looking for a new home.
    Sincerely,
    Kimberly Wrightington

We do not have a correct number for them, if they are still in business.

      So don't call that number.

Makes me wonder if the people are among us who called that lady at night, never said anything about the number being wrong to the rest of us, and to ice the cake they were rude to her...

I hope it was not a Taylorcraft person.

OK, something is really fishy here. HUNDREDS of people looking for these manuals? All calling in the middle of the night? Who calls to make an order in the middle of the night? How many of the pre-war B models even exist any more? Can't imagine why anyone who didn't have one would be looking for the manual. Who put the wrong number on our site? I don't even know where it is and I OWN A PREWAR and have been on this site for years. I am a little suspicious of this whole complaint. Who knows where this mysterious number is and who put it on our site?
        Something smells funny here.

"Air Service Caravan of New Bedford Inc." SOLVED

My good friend L-2 Gary has informed me that Air Service Caravan has been out of business for many years. Their inventory has been purchased by Thompson Aviation Warehouse in El Mirage, CA and they have all the manuals that were formerly carries by Air Service Caravan. Do a Google search for "Thompson" and "El Mirage" and you should find them. Area Code 760 and prefix 388 probably

I have no idea why anyone calls New Bedford Connecticut in the middle of the night. I'd be pissed off even if I DID have the !()$#*% manuals!

Re: "Air Service Caravan of New Bedford Inc." wrong phone number...

That is kind of my point. Someone puts a ladies phone number on an obscure (sorry guys, we aren't exactly Micro Soft) web site for manuals to a low production product and she is SWAMPED with requests, in the middle of the night, for them? Sounds to me like she has a "friend" with a slightly warped sense of humor and it isn't even any of us calling. We would call during normal business hours and the first explanation to any of us would have ended the problem when we brought the mis-information back to the group. The "friend" on the other hand can use the "cover" of her number here to torment her as much as he wants from different numbers and the problem points back to "that obscure web site".
Somebody has it in for this lady and I hope she finds them and can come up with a "suitable" way to repay her "friend".

This whole story smells fishy to me as well. Why would someone take action on a problem AFTER they already supposedly dealt with it by changing their phone number??? One would think that the average person would want to KEEP their phone number and do everything possible PRIOR to having to make a change. Whole thing sounds like bull.

Re: "Air Service Caravan of New Bedford Inc." wrong phone number...

Who among us has not written down a wrong digit or made a typo while transcribing a number? Everyone makes mistakes now and then.... for example:

Air Caravan was in New Bedford, MASSACHUSETTS, not Connecticut,
                and
it's THOMSON (not Thompson)'s Aviation Library

Since Air Caravan sold manuals for lots of different aircraft, it's likely that at least some of the wrong-number calls were from owners of non-Taylorcrafts. It's too bad someone is being bothered by these calls, but let's not read anything more than a simple human error into this.

Air Service Caravan of New Bedfdford is out of business. The owners, Frank and Roland have "Gone West" to their final reward. Bob Ollerton, please remove this information from the web site.

                    done and closed.

We could use some more contributions for the resources page at www.taylorcraft.org. If you have any suggestions please send them to me or post them in the daily discussion. It would also be good to get some listings for outside the USA.
