Now would not be the time to ask me whether I feel the need to report all my aviation activities to anyone 
That being said I don't think most FAA inspectors would have aproblem with the screen held in place with RTV. We now have this pamphlet called "Best Practices for Aging Aircraft" which the FAA even approved, that admits clearly that older aircraft need newly developed maintenance and repair procedures that the type clubs (that'd be us) know more about than they do.
