  • Fuel Tanks

I recently sent my wing tanks to the repair shop to fix what I thought to be minor leaks. In discussions with them, they feel both tanks are unairworthy. One has excessive corrosion and the other had some sort of paint applied that despite their repeated efforts, could not be removed. The shop strongly suggested replacement tanks.

I was wondering where one goes for fuel tanks? Anyone have one or two they would be willing to sell? Thanks in advance. Suggestions and or advice are greatly appreciated.

Talk to Tom at Wag-Aero. They should be selling new wing tanks soon.

OK I have a question! I just pulled the right wing tank out of N29696 a 1941 BC-65. This tank has a hole (like a tube for drag wires) thru the front of the tank with fairleads installed but no airleron cables go thru even close to here! This tube goes across from side to side at a 90 degree angle just in front of the fill cap. What do I have? I can post pics if need be.

                Larry,

Sounds like you have a tank that was originally installed in a L-2M. The tube was for the spoiler actuation rod to pass through.

it is an L-2M tank. Many L-2 tanks have found there way into "B" models.

                      Thanks Eric,

Haven't heard anything back yet from Bob but I will call him later. Just out of curiousity though, are L-2 tanks a drop in fit or do they require modification?

requires modification, different fuel pick up point which should be moved and closing up the sight guage ports.
