  • T-Craft? T-Cart?

OK, so this is a little thing, please excuse me for bringing it up. But which is it? T-Craft? or T-Cart?

Maybe it doesn't matter. But, T-Cart sounds a little disrespectful, a little too cute, a degradation of the name. Or is it just me?

We're the guys that fly 'em, buy 'em, and restore 'em. What do we call these wonderful old birds? Words matter. Is it T-Craft or T-Cart?

T-Craft, T-Cart, T-Crate. The first is what I fly, the second what I used to move my major components around the shop in the rebuild and the third what my spare engine and parts for the 45 are in.
I used to get offended by T-Cart and T-Crate but no mater what you call them you just can't insult such a great plane. When someone uses a name like that in a disparaging way, just look at them and smile as they walk back to their "Tuna Can". WE KNOW what we have and what they have. I don't even log time in Cessna's with nose wheels (kind of like the 120 & 140, but not enough to BUY one.

Taylorcraft is the proper name...T-craft is respectable by most.....andything else should be counted as a personal nick name that you put on the side of the boot cowl.

I have offered my TCraft counseling about the demeaning distortion of her noble name. She, being too proud to accept my offer, states, "A rose by any other name is still a rose." I had no idea she'd read Shakespeare.

Ooooooooooooooohh, don't let Forrest see you typing T-Cart, he strongly dislikes that name!!! Change over to an L-2 and then you are just a grasshopper. Oh well.................. I have 'T Craft' on one of my license plates. It seems more proper, and it fits on the plate.

Thank you Marty, I just DO NOT ANSWER anybody that uses any name other than Taylorcraft or Tcraft. C.G. is turning over in his grave when they use that name.
Kind of like Howard Hughes and the HK-1 being called the Spruce Goose, God what a chill that sent up my back. I am out of here to Columbus in an hour back Wed.... struts are being primed Tues.... I will ship WEd or Thurs....

I think the Shakespeare's quote is, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
But perhaps not, my degrees are in Engineering, not literature.

What ever you call it it will still outfly most other light aircraft. I used to cringe when my buddies called me a T Cart driver, and it became my name around the airport. Anyway what can you expect from someone who flys an AIRKNOCKER.

Good point, that is a worse nickname.

                    Re: T-Craft? T-Cart?

My Taylorcraft made an allusion to that famous quote of Juliet's, and paraphrased it to make the point that who cares? It's the same airplane. My TCraft did not wish to appear pedantic by using the actual quote, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet." So to put this sillines to bed, I hope we are not getting our priorities out of order. Guys are off dying in a war, and we're worried about a newbie who called a TCraft a TCart?

Well said, Ed. Sounds like people with way too much time on their hands and nothing else to worry about.

Havin' a little fun Ed and JH, ease up. You were the fourth one to respond to this thread, Ed. You remind me of my mother-in-law.

Does your mother-in-law also have conversations with airplanes?
