  • Pretzel Wheel cups

Howdy: Just received my control wheels back from powder coating and will be bringing the Taylorcraft logo cups back to that shop to see if they can do a fiberglass layup to reproduce them. Is there much interest in trying to make a batch lot in fiberglass for this item? Doc

    Re: Pretzel Wheel cups

Actually there is a whole group of us doing the Pretzel balls. Tom Baker made a beautiful set of masters that I sat on FAR too long until one of the other guys in the tribe said he would finish making the molds (short on names since I am at work with no access to the emails). I will try and pull up the list of people who want them and who has which pieces when I get home. There is a definite need for the parts but no one puts much priority on them since the planes seem to fly just fine without them. They are a really nice cosmetic touch to the wheels. I also have the silk screen negative for the button logo and a method to make the buttons when we get to that point.

      Doc:

I made a couple fiberglass centerpieces in a homemade mold last year. Pictures here, The little aluminum buttons (my son calls them "the nipples") are easily made by pounding an aluminum disk down around a steel washer, then popping the washer out the back. And you can use your computer printer to make a logo decal if you get some decal paper from the hobby shop. (I'll try to attach the logo file below if you want to reproduce it.)
