  • Fighting the Headliner

Anybody else having trouble getting the headliner in? I'd like to buy or borrow a used Airtex headliner, just for a pattern. The 5 holes drilled in the square tube at the top of each window on my BC12-D are different on each side. Somewhere there's one I can look at or written instructions. I have the D-window, and the big problem I see is how to do a fit and finish so that it looks nice and blends in with the Airtex baggage sling behind the seat. Yep, the next time I fly this little demon to Alliance, I want it to be presentable.

Next question. The tach sang an awful cacophonic song and vibrated yesterday, and the needle went haywire, so I removed it. It has no name that I can see. To whom do I send it for repair? If no one has a better idea, then to Keystone in Lockhaven. The cable is ok except the fitting on the engine end is starting to crack where it was brazed. So where to get a cable for a spare? The end going into the drive on the rear case has a little teatlike flange on it and it seems to me the tractor supply places have those if anyone can give me a steer in the right direction. Thanks and always glad to talk to the C. Gilbert Taylor crowds who fly on angel's sides of clouds.

I just had the same problem with my Tach. Yours will probably break in the next couple of hours. You can get the cable from Aircraft Spruce. It is on Page 354, part #10-16400. If the cable housing looks rough the just replace both the core and housing at the same time. Hope all goes well.

Do you have the 90 degree angle housing on the back of your tach? I wasn't sure what you meant. If you do, there is a real easy fix using a universal auto tach cable that has a squared end on it that goes into the 90 degree housing. You can then solder the keyed fitting to the other end (it's about 42 inches from tach to engine), screw it in and away you go.
