Just installed some new 4 ply 8.00x6 tires today and ran them at about 18psi. The old 6.00x6's were at 25-28 psi and seemed way too hard This really made my rough field much smooter plus it looks kind of cool. Here is a photo-

Re: 8.00 x 6 tires
I am running 8.50's between 8-15 psi and they land like a dream in the dirt here in alaska and in the desert of Utah, I usually have a medium bulge and they look low when I am sitting on the ramp, and boy do they sure grab on the asphalt when they make contact. I have not twisted off a valve stem yet but it could always happen if not careful. I am thinking of going to 29.11-10's for more excitement....Last edited by astjp2; 03-14-2007, 17:35.N29787

Re: 8.00 x 6 tires
I had wanted some 8.50x6's but could only find 6 ply- the ones I saw were really heavy. I wish I could have found some used off a 206 or 185 that were well worn.
These new tires of mine were so much better than the 6.00x6. I'll try them at an even lower pressure next time. I land a bit in cow pastures and dirt roads- the bigger tires seem to absorb alot of stuff the bungees never did.
- it was a little turbulent so I did not see how much cruise I lost- much not have been much because I did not notice it.Eric Minnis

Re: 8.00 x 6 tires
Eric,
As mentioned before, watch about going too low or you might loose a stem. I lost one on a 180hp Super cub once while playing around on an old strip mine. It was a 5 mile walk out of there and I had no cell phone with me. I managed to get her back in the air again with full right rudder, losts of right brake, and letting her turn left until I had enough aileron control to take the weight off and get airborn again......I never dreaded more about any landing in my life then I did that one. The landing did turn out to be much easier then the take off. I was running 8.50's with 8-10lbs.Kevin Mays
