Does any know this person, Is this someone from this site ? I would like to know more about this, there's also another one that he takes off the back of a truck, which I have done and thought that not to many people did this, but I think not.

Landing on the grass with floats is very common. The hard part is getting the water rudders down so you can steer while you taxi back to your hanger.:ass:

Yep, common here too... then we hook on to them with a pickup and "help" them back into the air...we tried the trailer thing, and the dolly thing, and although they work, they're not as easy (nor as safe) as just dropping a small loop on the backside of the bow cleat and the other end on the trailer ball of the pickup and pulling the plane up to speed. At the very first sign of any slack in the rope, it slips off the back of the cleat and away from the plane, which is already (and always) off to the side of the tow vehicle. We've used that method (a BUNCH of times) on everything from a J-3 to single Otters and never had any problems with it. In fact, the only times we ever did have problems was launching off dolly's and trailers.

This is how I do it now days, but back when I didn't have a lake to pull planes in and out of we did the flatbed truck or sometimes a trailer down the runway. I like the way I do it now better.

I do it every fall.It is always a thrill.It is also a sad time of year too.for me,float flying is as good as it can be.I also have been pulled aloft with the loop around the step trick,Ill tell ya thats a rush!

I have a Stinson on steroids (250 hp) and took off from the grass in about the same distance as wheels. I was apprensive about it before I did it, it turned out to be a non-event
