Could that be correct? I went to 11,200 today to check the mixture control and EGT function/practicality and on returning I had burned only 3 gallons of fuel as measured with a dipstick that I had calibrated myself. Full power going up, did some cruise tests at full throttle and came down at 2000 and 500 ft/min. Spun it twice to get rid of altitude (cold and boredom had set in.) Was flying for an hour total. Adjusted mixture starting at 6,000. I suppose it is possible considering my low power setting coming down.
Anyway, got 95 MPH GPS doing a two direction average at full throttle, 2350 rpm with the mixture tweaked. Think that would be about 65% power. EGT is pretty slow to react otherwise it worked fine. Mixture control is smooth as silk and the vernier works well also. Could still get 400ft/min. at 11,000 being careful at 55-60 indicated. Saw 22 degrees F. outside temp, about 55 on the ground. Overcast at 12,000 so I hung it up for the day.
