Does any one know the correct wood stringer size (height width)and profile?

The Stringers that were on my BC12 D were made for me out of spruce 36 years ago. for me by a friend. I would like to order new ones but not sure of the correct height.

Also I need to know the location and size of the wood blocks thaat were used on the BC-12 D.

P.S. Forest if you are out there please let me know if you received my chek I sent in November.

      Re: Wood Stringers

I got with a furtniture maker some time ago and gave him a chunk of original stringer. We were planning on making them from Doug Fir (little stiffer and not measurably heavier for a stringer). He was going to make them and ship them in a PVC tube. There wasn't much interest so we have it back burnered and are planning to make me two sets for the 45 and 41 when I need them. I am also using Taylorcraft stringers on the WW-1 M.S. AI replica I am designing. If there is a lot of interest I am sure he would love to make them for more people. Once the tooling ios set up you can run them through by the hundreds if you want that many. Till he makes the first set I have no idea what they would cost but with the tools he has it should be lots cheaper than we can make them ourselves. Shipping could be a bear! I was going to pick mine up in Kansas City at the Dawn Patrol fly-in.

Having just aquired a BC-12 that needs complete recover I know it needs the bottom stringers, will probably need the top ones too. Keep me in mind if you decide to make them up. I will not need them for a year or two yet as the T is still in the hanger with it's tail tied up in the rafters where it has been for 33 years. Larry

          Re: Wood Stringers

There is a common thread to most Taylorcraft restorations. You don't want to be in a hurry, because your supplier of any particular part will probably be SLOOOOOW! I know I am. A year is a short fuse for me.
I will probably make up several sets of stringers and store them in my hangar for when they are needed, but we started this process two years ago, so you may need them before we have them ready. PUSH us as you get anywhere near close to needing them!

Thanks, I think I was way over confident on my time line. :-) A year to me is like yesterday too. Larry
