  • Hellow everyone new here!

As the title say hello to all. I'm new to the fabric world. In with a partner we have a chance of acquiring a none grasshopper L-2, I believe. I like to see if anyone might have an answer to this quest. Besides cowling which is a noticeable difference. What is the difference BTW the L-2 tandem, to the j-3 cub, or L4 which of corse is the same plane wright? Also the open cowl from a cub does look nice in my opinion, Did the taylorcraft have such a thing, and can it be installed on to an L-2?

No the L-4 is not the same as the L-2. The L-4 is a modified J-3 Cub. The L-2 is a Taylorcraft made from the DC-65 which was the tandem Taylorcraft. Many of the L-2's had open cowls except for the L-2M.

When they were built sn 4000 thru 5165 were built with open cowling,sn 5166-5999 and sn 6253-6318 were L-2Ms and had full cowling. SN 6000 -6252 could have either as they were TG-6s converted to power ship. Dick

Yes I love this information is vertue! As some have mentioned in other writings, that taylorcraft was the origibal desingner of the cub, that it was copied by piper wich had the ability to mass produce it. Is there any truth to this?

Hi! Yes, you need to pick up a copy of our own Chet Peeks book, The Taylorcraft Story. This link will also give you some history lesson.
