It may be difficult to sell a plane to us but think about those folks, like the gentleman who just asked about the new Taylorcrafts and how they fly. How difficult would it be to sell to someone not on this site? I feel there are many folks out there who don't know about this site, hence are not informed about the issues with the new Taylorcraft.

Fortunately, most people I knowof learn about Tcrafts by other owners or general word of mouth. They're not high-profile aircraft, though it seems a great number of people have flown one. I was answering questions of a young man as to cost of a Tcraft, etc. just the other day as I refueled. We seem to be the best ambassadors of Taylorcraft out in the real world.

yes i know that good warm feeling you get when people talk to you about tcraft i have such pride when i say ya i own a tcraft that i am restoring and the history of the tcraft and what the future might hold for the little bird onliy if that dum ass harry would stop !@#$!!@#$!!@#$!!@#$!ing up a good name and history !!! and one thing i would like to see is how cheap some one could build a new plane like the good ol days in aviation ther is absolutly no reason an aicraft should cost so much but oh well guess its up to some of use to think out side the box

I can name two of the things that need to be removed from the equation to make the endeavour you seek perhaps get closer to affordable. Feds and lawyers, especially the LIABILITY ones....(Not all Feds, Eric, some still need to be around)!!!

There are many things to NOT do. Don't lease a huge factory planning to make 100 airplanes a month. Don't hire a slew of employees for the same purpose (largest expense). Dreams are good, but you don't jump in the ocean when you're learning to tread water. Don't use a $14,000 engine. Screw the liability. Let em take what they can, rise again and press on.

Like starting a small airline, mfg an aircraft (or any other vehicle) you have to steel yourself to the concept that someone may get killed in your product through no fault of your own.

Current regs, make it impossible to build an inexpensive aircraft as well as current labor atmosphere, so it'd have to be done in kit form as experimental with an experimental engine. Eminently a much safer aircraft with modern technology.

I haven't followed this thread too closely, but here's a suggestion..and I apologize if someone else has already made it...Why not have a new Taylorcraft company that manufactures only experimental kit planes, based solely on the design of the original T crafts? Would this not save a lot of expense that comes with normal cert. designs, and make it financially viable? Just a thought..

these are all good ideas. just remember that a welder dosen't make 20 bucks a week like when the original t -craft were made. those same people were able to multi task, once the fuselage was built, the same ones were building wings or installing engs. the phrase multi tasking is not new.just think of what a fuselage would cost today to build if the welder were paid todays rates. no one on the board wants to go back to making 2500.00 annual salary.

and i was paid 78 dollars, but don't forget we also had all we could eat and free work clothes along with some pretty goog health ins that inflated our wages. no utilities, and free transportation any where in the war zone.

Yes Jim i thought it was free clothes etc. to, untill i got out and they gave me all info for unemployment and i found i was paying for all the clothes and the meals i wasn't eating. Marv

Jim the point was, they weren't benefits. At the time we thought they were benefits, but actualy we were paying for them.When i was discharged i was getting $214 a month cash as a E-4 and I was shown to be making over $14,000 a year,i do not remember the exact amount. If i knew i was paying for those meals i may have eat more of them Marv

Can they legally do that without the STC? If so, is it because they made a change? It seems they could if they didn't call it a Taylorcraft, like the cub versus the cuby.

Buying a full scale REPLICA Taylorcraft makes about as much sence as buying a Miata. I'll take my 1966 MGB ANY DAY. REALITY, what a concept. If you WANT a Taylorcraft, then BUY a TAYLORCRAFT. Brie
