  • Taylorcraft parts for sale

When I flew my Taylorcraft into Slidell LA this weekend, I met a man building a fixed-gear Glasair.

He said that he has a bunch of leftover Taylorcraft parts from a project that he had 20 years ago.

    Jury Struts
    Instrument panel
    2 top cowls
Left and right landing gear with wheels and Brakes
    Complete set of tail feathers

I should have asked him what year and model bird these parts are from. But I didn't have the presence of mind.

If you are interested, contact me by PM or email and I'll forward his name and number to you.

What were you doing in Slidell? (just being nosey....) Was the airport in ok condition? I had hear it was mangled and land at your own risk. Is that not the case anymore?

I'm looking for a bottom cowl for a '40, BC-65. Anybody know where there is one? Mine is serviceable but has several cracks with patches and lots of rivits. Any leads are appreciated, or ideas on making repairs that will make it look better than it is now. I talked to a guy today that does aluminum welding and he turned it down.

I have known today a magnificent intoxication. I have learnt how it feels to be a bird. I have flown. Yes I have flown. I am still astonished at it, still deeply moved. — Le Figaro, 1908

I need a top cowl, especially if the hinge is intact! How do we line this up?

Hank and Cpirrman, I'll send you a Private Message (PM) with my bud's phone number.
Hank, BTW, I have a new top cowl hinge in stock. I've been holding on to it because I've been thinking that I may need to replace mine some day.

Richard, you asked what I was doing in Slidell and how they are doing. I was there to pick up my logs from the AI who did my annual recently. We did the annual at our strip. But he lives in Slidell and has a hangar there.

The airport is almost normal. There is one hangar that got shredded pretty bad. But it's got 3 airplanes in it. Including a brand new looking Stoddard Hamilton GlaStar. No door and no walls and portions of the roof are missing.
The FBO must have gotten flooded because they operate out of a trailer now. But they're selling gas normally. And there seemed to be the same magnitude of activity there as always. Maybe more.

The runway and taxiway surfaces are fine. The grass was cut everywhere. In fact the grass looked so inviting we asked the FBO guy if we could land on the grass to the East of the hard surface next time. But he said that we should not do that.

Tim: Thanks again for the info - it seems we may all benefit from your information. My brother in Mandeville will meet with this gentleman and report on the condition of the parts. Doc
