    Do the easy thing first as Powell pointed out. Remove the primer line and plug it at the carb and the line. Lot easier than removing and messing with the carb. My bets on the primer

      If the shutoff valve stopped the leak, then it is not the primer. It is the needle/seat combined with head pressure. If you have a steel seat, make sure no pitting and lap it in, or replace the neoprene with one not worn out.

        Had a senior moment and didn't read about the fuel being shut off, maybe because i never shut mine off.
