Kevin, I never owned her...just worked on her... while Jim Chrysler from Seattle owned it. Replaced the left main gear, and did lots of sheetmetal work on her. Also did some windows and a bit of engine work as well.
I always loved the Goose, but it was a bit hard to love one when you dropped a plug while working on an engine when sitting in the water!
If you look at that one link above, they show a bunch of copies of Tales of the Golden Monkey on DVD available on eBay. When 327 showed up in WA, she still was painted in the white, red and black of the series...it even said "Cutter's Goose" on the nose. I'm not exactly sure where she is now... since I moved back over here, I've lost contact with alot of what's going on over there in the islands.
Pegi, my sincere apologies for "hijacking" your thread... I hope you have a wonderful trip and bring us back a complete report along with pictures!

      Re: Airparks

The Goose is a fantastic airplane. My first memories of riding in an airplane are from our summer trips down to Little Port Walter on the southern tip of Baranof Island. We lived in Juneau and for several summers my dad was the resident scientist/manager at the NMFS fisheries research station at Little Port; the whole family moved down there for a couple of months.

I recall one time I was the only passenger and the pilot "let me fly". Thanks Al Crop! Big excitement for a small boy.

Some strong memories of the airplane - the water over the windscreen on takeoff; the pilot ducking down under the panel, through a hatch, and up through another exterior hatch on the "bow" to throw out a small anchor; the incredible thundering noise; the fun of taking off on land and arriving on the water; the pilot cranking the gear down and twisting around to check the gear condition through the little ports in the gear wells just behind the cockpit.

For quite a number of years in the early 60's, the scientists at the Juneau lab were the only scuba divers in SE Alaska. My dad was part of a team that went down to put a line on a Goose that landed in the channel with its wheels down.

          Kevin,

Here is a link to the Tales of the Golden Goose. Apparently you can buy some copies of the show. I didn't realize that it was only 21 episodes in 1982 and '83. I remember it well.

A few years ago I got a surprise ride in a Goose. My first ride in a radial-engined anything. Rode like an airliner.

I'd lost track of 327 when I left WA, but it seems she crashed in NY in 2005. From what I can find, a guy is rebuiding her.

                JH,
A friend of mine here in NY is rebuilding a Widgeon (mini Goose) with two round 300 hp. Lycoming engines. It's one of 40 that were produced.

Kevin, here's a link to the page I found, and a newspaper article. Seems they had an engine problem with inflight fire?? http://www.drawdecal.com/goose/cuttersgoose.htm

Jim, I got to work on a couple Ranger powered Widgeons and did just a little sheetmetal on a round engined Widgeon... I liked them!!
