  • Super Koropon 2-part green epoxy primer

Hello: After a long discussion with my IA, I decided to switch to PPG Aerospace's Super Koropon (PN 515X330) 2-part epoxy green primer which is resistant to almost all fluids. It comes in a "kit" which will reconstitute a total of 2 gallons. It is priced at $252.62. I ordered it out of Grand Prairie (Dallas), TX and the phone number is: 817-640-1067. This product sprays easily @ 38 psi and coats "wet" with a short tack time and good finish. Due to "Hazmat" regs UPS will not ship ground, but FEDEX will. Anyone else had any experience with this coating? Doc

They probably don't have a hazmat account with UPS. They are so strict on shipping flammables it is rediculous. Koropon is an excellent product. It is as good or better than Stits epoxy in my opinion.

Re: Super Koropon 2-part green epoxy primer

Hello: I originally had ordered a PPG automotive 2-part epoxy primer in white and had done some test priming with this product, which seemed acceptable to me. My IA strongly recommended the Super Koropon as he had extensive experience with it. I attended the EAA fabric course in Mesquite, TX and heard some horror stories about MEK and improperly primed surfaces. As my IA and I are in for a long relationship, I went with the flow and have been very happy with this product. It looks "zinc chromate green" and is very resistant to MEK cleaning, at least on the test pieces. I have primed all of the engine/baffling pieces, tail feathers, etc., and the fuselage is next. My IA's C310 had the inside of the cowlings just "primed" with this product 2 years ago and the product looks new. Hope that this helps. Doc
